SumCode is pay as you go: you buy credits and only spend them when your agent saves a change or you go over the free storage and sharing allowances. This page explains when you can get your money back and how to ask.
- Changed your mind? Ask within 14 days of a purchase and we refund the credits from it that your Organization still has.
- Credits you have already used and free credits are not refundable.
- Charged twice or charged by mistake? We always fix that.
- Email support@sumcode.io. We aim to reply within 2 business days.
1. What You Are Buying
Credits are prepaid units that your Organization spends on SumCode's paid features at the rates on our Pricing page. They are added to your Organization's balance as soon as your payment goes through and can be used straight away. Nothing physical is shipped. Your AI subscription (for example Claude, Codex or Cursor) is bought separately from that provider. Credits are priced and charged in US dollars. Unused credits expire 12 months after your Organization's last purchase, and we email your Owners before that happens.
2. Refunds Within 14 Days
Credits from all your purchases go into one balance for your Organization; they are not kept apart by purchase. Within 14 days of a purchase, you can ask for a full or partial refund of that purchase, as long as your Organization still has enough credits for us to remove the matching amount.
We work out the refund at the price you actually paid per credit for that pack. Bonus credits that came with the pack are removed in proportion. A refund never exceeds the amount you paid.
Example: a $50 pack gave your Organization 5,250 credits. If your balance is 5,250 or more when you ask, you can have the full $50 back. If your balance is 4,725, you can have up to $45 back, and we remove those 4,725 credits. We confirm the amount with you before we refund.
3. Auto Top-Up
Each Auto Top-Up charge is a purchase like any other, so the same 14-day rule applies to it. If an Auto Top-Up charged you when you did not expect it, tell us within 14 days. You can turn Auto Top-Up off at any time in Organization Settings, Billing.
4. What Is Not Refundable
- Credits already used for changes, sharing or storage.
- Requests made more than 14 days after the purchase, except for mistakes (section 5) or where the law gives you a right to one.
- Free credits and promotional credits, which have no refund value.
- Credits removed because an account was closed for breaking our Terms.
5. Mistakes on Our Side
If you were charged twice or charged the wrong amount, tell us and we will correct the charge. If credits were taken for a change that failed or was refused, we will restore those credits. If a SumCode outage stopped you using credits you had bought, contact us and we will look at it fairly.
6. If You Close Your Account, or We Do
If you close your account, the 14-day rule above still applies to recent purchases. If we close your account or stop offering SumCode when you have not broken our Terms, we refund all your Organization's unused purchased credits.
7. Customers in the EU and UK
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, your legal rights to withdraw from a purchase remain unaffected. We will not treat those rights as given up unless we obtained the express request, consent and acknowledgement the law requires. Where the law allows us to start providing a service during the withdrawal period, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for the service already provided.
8. How to Ask for a Refund
- Email support@sumcode.io from an Owner's email address.
- Include your Organization's name and the date and amount of the purchase (your receipt email has both).
- We aim to reply within 2 business days. Approved refunds go back to the card you paid with and usually arrive within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.
9. Please Talk to Us Before a Chargeback
If something on your statement looks wrong, contact us first: we can almost always sort it out faster than a bank dispute. Your Stripe receipt shows how the charge appears on your statement. While a chargeback is open, the credits from that payment are held back and your Organization cannot buy more credits. If the chargeback is decided in our favour, the credits are given back. Your projects stay open throughout.
